The following post appeared in the Oct. 11 issue of the Baltimore-Washington Conference’s e-connection:
Twice a year, Bishop LaTrelle Easterling invites leaders of the Baltimore-Washington and Peninsula-Delaware Conferences to join her in a day of vital listening, conversation and learning at the Next Level Speaker Series.
On Thursday, Oct. 19, she will be joined by the Rev. Kenda Creasy Dean, author of Innovating for Love: Joining God’s Expedition through Christian Social Innovation.
Creasy Dean was selected because she is noted throughout the denomination as the leading voice in helping leaders create innovative opportunities for growth and vitality. God-fueled imagination is required for the church to connect with its neighbors and thrive into the future. Operating from this space is essential to combat ministry fatigue. Dean is an expert in the field and has extensive experience in new ministry development, grant writing, and nonprofit ministry, especially — but not exclusively — with young people.
Next Level will be held on Oct. 19 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Wyoming UMC in Dover, Delaware and online. Those who attend in-person will receive a copy of Dean’s book. Lunch and opportunities for fellowship will be provided.
