October 17, 2023 Oct. 29 Worship Service Celebrates Power of the Human Spirit

Dumbarton proudly presents Gabriel Fauré’s timeless masterpiece, the Faure Requiem, on All-Saints Sunday (Oct. 29). Come feel the power of the music, the harmony of voices, and the magic of this iconic composition. Witness and take part in a worship service filled with beauty, reflection and breathtaking music as we celebrate the power of the human spirit.

We are dedicating this All Souls Requiem to the victims of the ongoing war in Israel/Palestine, and we’ll take up a special offering for the United Methodist Committee on Relief to support the Mar Elias Peace Study Program in Israel/Palestine  All funds raised will be matched by Dumbarton’s Mission and Outreach budget up to $2,000.

What to Expect:

  • Spiritual Uplift: Faure’s Requiem is a celebration of life and a journey of introspection. Allow the music to touch your soul and elevate your spirit.
  • World-Class Performers: DUMC Choir is joined by world-renowned musicians, bringing this intimate arrangement of Faure’s masterpiece to life in a way you’ve never experienced before. We are delighted to welcome our soloists Amy Broadbent, soprano, praised by Washington Classical Review for her “consummate poise, limpid clarity, and faultless intonation”, and Jason Buckwalter, known for his “super-sized characters” (The Sybaritic Singer) and “theatrical fire” (Baltimore City Paper).
  • A Serene Setting: Our historic sanctuary provides the perfect acoustics and unique atmosphere for this transcendent musical and worship experience.
