November 13, 2023 Dumbartonians Urge Ceasefire, Humanitarian Aid for Gaza

Members of Dumbarton United Methodist Church were part of the tens of thousands of people gathered in Washington, D.C., on Nov. 4, to push for an immediate cease-fire in Gaza and urge humanitarian aid.

The event began with an afternoon rally at Freedom Plaza followed by a march past the White House. United Methodists for Kairos Response (UMKR), one of the event sponsors, is an international grassroots movement of laity and clergy in the United Methodist Church that seeks – through nonviolent action and in partnership with Christians in Palestine – freedom, justice and equality for all Palestinians and Israelis.

Dumbarton Deacon Doris Warrell joined with other UMKR supporters at the event. (She’s pictured here on the far left.) Martha Dickey and Nancy Holland, two other members of our congregation, were also in attendance.
