January 24, 2024 Dumbarton Pledge Dollars at Work

Thanks to the generosity of our congregation in fulfilling their 2023 pledges, Dumbarton was able to support 20 organizations doing important work that aligns with our church’s mission and vision locally, nationally and around the globe.

Here are some of the organizations that Dumbarton supported via our Mission and Outreach Budget:

  • Baltimore-Washington Area Reconciling United Methodists (B-WARM): Working toward a denomination that is inclusive of all persons, particularly LGBTQIA+ persons.
  • Everytown for Gun Safety: The largest gun violence prevention organization in America.
  • Soy Nutrition Program in El Salvador: We purchased a refrigerator for Nutravida, an organization that empowers children and women and promotes nutritional health through programs such as soy production, baking, workshops and providing a low-cost healthy daily meal for the community.
  • Georgetown Ministry Center: This neighborhood nonprofit guides service-resistant, chronically homeless individuals towards stability through the provision of a safe and welcoming environment where everyone is treated with respect, street outreach, and advocacy for the homeless.
  • Howard University Alternative Spring Break: We provided and served dinner to approximately 40 college students who traveled to DC to perform acts of community service.
  • Wesley Foundation at Howard University: This foundation provides a place for students to connect with God and be part of a dynamic group of people committed to doing life together, leading with love and growing in grace.
  • Inspired Child: This DC-based nonprofit seeks to improve the quality of early childhood education for children living in Washington, D.C.’s most under-resourced communities by inspiring a life-long love of learning and books through arts-based literacy programs.
