Recent VBS: Even Better Than We Imagined

Dumbarton UMC and Mt. Vernon Place UMC recently partnered to create a Vacation Bible School (VBS) Weekend experience for children ages 4 to 11–and adults too! Volunteers from both churches came together, June 14-16, to create a welcoming, fun weekend full of storytelling, crafts, music, games, food and fellowship–all taken from the Reconciling Ministries Network (RMN) “JUST Like Me” VBS curriculum that helps kids celebrate their identity as God’s beloved creations just as they are! VBS “campers” also learned how to use their voices for justice and share their gifts with our community.

Dumbarton hosted everyone on Friday night, and Mt. Vernon Place returned the favor on Saturday morning. We wrapped up our programming on Sunday afternoon with a tour of Common Good City Farm, followed by a celebration and potluck picnic.

The whole experience was even better than any of us could have imagined–and it all started with a conversation between two people wondering if it would be possible … which, it was!
