Dumbarton & Mt. Vernon Place UMCs are excited to be collaborating on a Vacation Bible School (VBS) weekend event for our church communities, June 14-16, 2024.
We’ll be using the “Just Like Me” curriculum, which was developed in 2023 by the Reconciling Ministries Network. This innovative, adaptable, and multigenerational VBS curriculum, “centers the deep and active faith lives of children and engages the real-world contexts in which children live. Built on theologies of inclusion, this unique curriculum uses First and Second Testament Bible characters to help students build vital social and spiritual skills to support active faith development,” according to an RMN news release.
“Just Like Me” helps kids celebrate their own and others’ identities as beloved creations of God — just as they are. Scholars, writers, and youth pastors from across the U.S. collaborated to develop this biblically based, theologically informed curriculum that will allow young people and their church families to “explore essential Christian concepts of community, inclusion, and intersectional justice while prioritizing the agency and experience of children.”
Worship, shared meals, activities, and learning for both kids & adults will be part of our Dumbarton-Mt. Vernon VBS experience!
