Dinner for Winter Shelter
GEORGETOWN MINISTRY—MEALS FOR WINTER SHELTER
Each winter the Georgetown Ministry Center (GMC) and GMC’s member congregations team to provide shelter and meals for people experiencing homelessness. Dumbarton will support the shelter by providing and serving dinners on December 12th and 13th. People from Dumbarton UMC provide food for 10-12 people and share dinner with the shelter residents and GMC staff/volunteers at Church of the Pilgrims, which is hosting the shelter that week. Usually three or four persons (or couples or families) volunteer to cook and serve dinner. Chefs need to arrive by 6:30 p.m. to provide food at 7 p.m. We usually provide an entrée, salad or vegetable, bread, and dessert. Dumbartonians and friends who have volunteered previously have truly found this experience to be rewarding. To volunteer to bring food and help serve, please contact the church office or Jen Whatley.
Location: Church of the Pilgrims, 2201 P Street, NW
Time: please arrive between 6-6:30 (guests will arrive 7-7:30)
