Sunday Worship

Worship at Dumbarton begins at 11:00 am and usually lasts a little longer than an hour.  Nursery care and supervised play is available for infants and young children through second grade.  Each worship service includes a children’s message.  Children are always welcome in worship and may gather with Jeehye at the Children's Table at the rear of the worship space for quiet activities.

Refreshments and conversation follow worship in the Social Hall. All are welcome!

Education classes are on break for the summer and resume on September 8

Advent Book Study

Advent Book Study –During Advent, Mary Kay Totty is leading a study group on the book “Seven Spiritual Gifts of Waiting” by Holly W. Whitcomb.   This group will explore what waiting can teach us: Patience, Loss of Control, Living in the Present, Compassion, Gratitude, Humility, Trust in God.  Group will meet virtually via Zoom (video or phone conference) at 8 pm on Tuesdays --Nov  27, Dec 4, 11, & 18.  Contact the church office to let Rev. Totty know youy want to join the group (she will sent you the log-on/call in information)…and order the book on Amazon.

Reconciling Sunday Worship

Come to a joyous celebration on March 3 celebrating our 32nd anniversary of becoming Reconciling Congregation. Despite what happened at General Conference, we will reaffirm our core values of Full Inclusion of LGBTQIA+ people!   
 
The celebration will include renewal of vows for a couple in our congregation, marking their 20 years together and 15th wedding anniversary! They invite everyone to their luncheon party in the Social Hall following worship. Food provided by Carlos Gomez-Starnes. Everyone is Welcome! Come as you are!

Christmas Eve Worship

Christmas Eve worship includes Christmas Pageant lwith children & youth participation, special Christmas music, Blessing of Children (of all ages!), carols and candlelight. All are welcome! Come as you are! Child-friendly! Celebrate the arrival of the Christ child in a beautiful setting with a welcoming congregation!

Adult Ed: Way Forward Update

Rev. Mary Kay Totty and Ella Curry: “The Way Forward: Update!” In advance of the UMC Special Session of the General Conference--to be held in St. Louis in February--our pastor and Ella will bring us up to date on what’s happening with “The Way Forward.”  The fate of the UMC in regard to the Book of Discipline and human sexuality is up for grabs—with three different options.   We’ll hear about a fourth option (“The Simple Plan”) and engage in a lively Q&A.   Adult Ed meets in the church Social Hall.  Gather at 9:30 a.m. for refreshments and fellowship.

Adult Ed - When Moving to Canada is Not an Option

October 21, 10:00 a.m. —   "When Moving to Canada Is Not an Option: Suggestions for Surviving Difficult Times"  -- We are living in a season of unreasonably high stress from presidential antics to the denomination's "Way Forward", to pending mid-term elections to catastrophic natural disasters, and incident after incident of domestic terrorism. Rev. Mary Kay will offer some suggestions to keep from being overwhelmed by the stress of these days and will lead a discussion of coping strategies that attendees have found helpful.   Adult Ed meets in the church Social Hall.  Gather at 9:30 a.m.
