Walter Wells' 100th

Walter Wells was honored by Dumbarton United Methodist Church in advance of his 100th birthday on July 30. Walter, who resides at Riderwood Village, told the congregation via Zoom that he was “overcome”  by the cards he received and the remarks during the service.

They included readings from his favorite poet , Robert Burns; Sierra Club founder John Muir, and a  “ditty” written by Joan Countryman. Members recalled the many years he served as trustee and worked tirelessly on the church building. For years he walked seven miles a day, including three miles each way to Dumbarton with his late wife, Luella.
